•
Rigid heavy duty construction to withstand high horsepower cuts and
the conditions of a mill environment.
• Effective lubrication to provide for
maximum bearing life and to minimize wear on guide surfaces.
• High cutting speed to take advantage
of advanced cutter designs that are necessary to produce an
exceptionally smooth mirror-like surface.
• Robust spindle construction and
cutting head design that will provide the stability for these high
finishes without the necessity for extensive bearing maintenance.
• Fail-safe systems to eliminate and/or
minimize potential operational damage that can remove the scalper
from production.
Ingersoll's extremely rigid cutting
tools and robust spindle construction, coupled with our exclusive
adaptive machine control system, allow machining of ingots with up
to 45 mm of face stock in a single pass. The stepped placement of
roughing and finishing blades in the cutting tool minimizes the
requirement for the critical finishing knives to pass through the
segregation layer. The results are longer finishing knife life and
better surface finishes. It also eliminates the need for a wide
selection of cutting tables to be resident in the machine’s
programmable controller, greatly simplifying operations. Only three
parameters are required for face scalping and these are only rarely
changed. These parameters are:
1. Percent of load permissible on the
spindle drive motor
2. Maximum permissible feed rate
3. Depth of cut below the low point measured on the ingot
Ingersoll's aluminum Ingot Scalping
Machines include edge scalping heads with the single vertical
spindle. We are confident the Ingersoll Scalping System will best
meet your requirements for productivity, dependability, and
efficiency.
