Ingersoll has reached another important milestone with the lastest version of its largest horizontal Fiber Placement Machine, the Mongoose H3. Using 32 tows of 0.500 in width, the machine can lay up to 8000 square feet per hour.

The machine is now being delivered to Alenia after running the qualification tests with the following parameters:
  • Lay-up speed: 30 m/min (1200 IPM)
  • Cut speed: 30 m/min (1200 IPM)
  • Add speed: 30 m/min (1200 IPM)
The qualification tests also included lay-up on a static female mold.

This is the last 2nd generation machine being built by Ingersoll. By fall 2008, the next generation of machines will be available featuring:
  • Lay-up speed: 60 m/min (2400 IPM)
  • Cut speed: 50 m/min (2000 IPM)
  • Add speed: 50 m/min (2000 IPM)
