| For greater flexibility and maximum operating
efficiency, a machine equipped with a Masterhead is the answer.
The Masterhead spindle drive system with interchangeable spindle units represents a significant breakthrough in heavy machine tool technology. Masterhead brings more versatility and flexibility to one-stop parts machining -- the closest solution yet to truly universal machining. Masterhead was developed to perform a full range of cutting functions on five sides of a workpiece, in a single set-up, in a wide variety of materials -- from steel to aluminum, titanium to advanced composites. This is possible by using any of a broad choice of automatically changed spindle units -- including various straight, angular, universal and gimbal configurations as well as the 2-axis CNC spindle unit for 5-axis contouring (shown above) that permit the cutting tool to be positioned at any angle to the workpiece.
