This High Velocity Gantry
(HVG) for die finishing delivers 3 times the productivity of conventional
machines in a single set-up.
An automotive die that once required 250 hours of machining time and another 100 hours for polishing can now be produced in just 40 hours and go directly into the press with no spotting or tryout. The HVG uses linear motors instead of ball screws to drive the gantry, ram and saddle. Linear motors can produce feed rates over 30m/min., rapid traverse rates to 40m/min., and acceleration/deceleration rates to .4g's. With the HVG, the depth of cut and stepover on each pass can be kept to a minimum, resulting in cusps that require little or no polishing. |

| The Octahedral
Hexapod is ideal for multiple-axis contour machining and the high-speed,
high precision production of plastic injection molds and stamping dies.
Ingersoll's patented approach combines the rigidity
of the closed Octahedral frame with the inherent stiffness of the
Hexapod structure. Like a truss, each of the six struts on the
Ingersoll Octahedral Hexapod are under tension and compression.
This eliminates the structural bending moments that are created on
conventional orthogonal machines. This combination provides
unparalleled machine rigidity/stiffness for better part accuracy,
surface finish and increased tool life. |
